A birth doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period. A doula works alongside your midwife or obstetrician to support you and your birth partner throughout your journey.
What does a doula do?
A doula offers continuous support, which may include:
- Emotional reassurance and encouragement
- Physical comfort measures (breathing techniques, positioning, massage)
- Evidence-based information to help you make informed decisions
- Communication support
- Partner support so your loved ones can be fully present
Where do you provide birth support?
I provide birth doula support for:
- Home births
- Hospital births
- Birth center births
within the Netherlands, working in collaboration with your midwife or hospital care team.

What is included in your birth doula package?
My birth doula package includes:
1 free intake/consultation session to get to know each other and discuss your needs and wishes and to see we are fit for each other. One we decide to go ahead then
- 3 prenatal sessions during pregnancy to prepare for birth, discuss preferences, and build confidence
- On-call availability from 37 weeks of pregnancy
- Full continuous support during labour and childbirth
- 2 postpartum visits for emotional support, reflection, and guidance after birth
